About 2 million Native Americans populate the United States of America. Inuit and Alaskan Aleut people of the Arctic are a part of the Native American population.

The United States of America is sometimes called the "melting pot" because people from all over the world immigrate to the United States of America and become American citizens. In the United States of America almost everyone can find their ancestry to another country, but for the Native Americans and Pacific Islanders, they can't find it.
American Way of Life- Families:
Today there are many different family patterns. A typical family, today, has one or two parents with two or less children. In 1999 68% of the children that live in the United States of America, lived with 2 parents. The other 24% lived with a single-parent family. The head of the house was usually the mother. The other small percentage of the children also lived with single-parent families, but in this case the single-parents were fathers. The head of that small percentage of children who lived with a single-parent family is usually the father. With this small percentage of children who lived with a single-parent family sometimes live with their grand-parents too. If they lived with their grandparents too then the head of the family would be the grandparents and the father. A lot of couples choose to not have kids.
Education:
To the United States of America, education is really important. United States of America has the highest literacy rate in the world. The rate is 97%. The literacy rate refers to the population of 15 year or older in age that can read and write. In the United States of America over 20% of the people who graduated high school, go to university or technical school.
Millions of adults go to evening and weekend classes to improve their education and to learn new skills.
Languages:
The United States of America don't have an official language. The most spoken language is English, next to English is Spanish. Other cultures use their own languages at home and they practice their religious beliefs.
Beliefs:
In the United States of America they are free to believe in whatever they want. Being able to practice your religious beliefs is a freedom protected by the government of the United States of America.
Music:
Americans have developed many different types of music like Country Western, Jazz, Blues, Soul, R&B, Hip Hop, and RocknRoll. These types of music are important to American world music.
Celebrations:
There are many celebrations in the United States of America. July 4th is one of the most important celebrations to the Americans, it was the day when the United States of America became an independent country. Presidents' Day is another important celebration. It is the day when they honour the first American President, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln for ending slavery in the United States of America.
Christian Easter and Christmas, Jewish Passover, Hindu Diwali and Muslim Ramadan are holidays that come from other religious beliefs.
Connections:
American influences Canada, and America is influenced by the Canadian culture as well. Movies, television, automobiles, technology, fashion, and food are some of the many things that Canada influenced American culture by. America influences the world by their fast food restaurants. Fast food restaurants started in the United States of America. Many processed foods are made by American companies like Twinkies, Oreo cookies, Kraft Dinner, Pop Tarts, Corn Flakes, other cereals, potato chips, toasters and carbonated soft drinks, such as pepsi and coca-cola.
